Santosh Kushwaha: Infographic Designer
I am a data-confident, infographic designer based in New Delhi.
I was born in 1983 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, graduated in 2005 with a degree in Fine Arts from Banaras Hindu University, and moved to New Delhi. My range of works extends from illustrations and cartoons to layout designs, but I am focused more on information design.
Infographic design, collaboration, expertise is what I offer. That can result in graphics of all shapes, sizes and formats depending on audience and content; static graphics; for print and online, including charts, graphs, maps, icons, diagrams, illustrations, power point presentation. Just so long as the visual clarifies, explains, reveals or adds meaning.
Being a popular and rapidly growing sector there are many descriptions alongside ‘infographics’ that get used indeterminately for this kind of work – visual storytelling, data journalism, data visualisation, visual journalism – take your pick. They all have slightly different meanings to different people. I’m all in favour of side-stepping labels and just having a conversation to work out what you or your business need and why.
In addition to infographics I offer research, analysis, and number crunching.
I’m also excited that now I have the time and flexibility to explore new approaches and industries, tools and skills.
For the past eight years, I have worked for a number of magazines – CFO India, IncIndia, People Matters, CTO Forum,Gadgets & Gizmos, Business Today (India today group) – and newspapers (Amar Ujala, Gulf News).
Some of my works have been appreciated widely. News Page Designer (NPD) features my work on a regular basis, and I accounts for two international awards in my career as a graphic designer: Hugo boss create contest winner (Round -7) and the ICAW Poster Contest 2008 Grand Prize Winner.
Last but not the least, I run my own art blog (http://santosh-kushwaha.blogspot.com)
